Kingfisher Variations
I was curious what would happen if I painted the same bird multiple times with different techniques, colors and backgrounds. These are all painted in acrylic on watercolor paper.

Live Sketching
Live sketching jazz musicians at the Studio Door last night. A little nerve wracking to sketch in public, but also super fun.

Mystical Heron
I had almost forgotten how much fun it was to work with Watercolor Mixed Media. This one was inspired by a Little Blue Heron.

Gate Keeper
Thought I give the crows a break and paint a cat this time. And I discovered acrylic paint markers – they are so much fun! acrylic on canvas, 20″ x 20″

Still Waters
My latest painting – I was going to call it “Still Waters,” but then a friend told me that it is so “Game of Thrones.” So, I never watched the series. Maybe I need to check it out…

Crow Dance
My latest painting: Crow Dance. Only took 3 months to finish :-). What drew me to paint these crows is the attitude and interaction between them. I like the ambiguity that I don’t actually know whether they are mating or fighting over food.

Crow Magic
It was so much fun making this painting, adding many layers of slightly translucent paint to build up the depth and subtle color tones.

The Matter of the Earth
If the matter of the earth can be reduced to the size of a pea (once the space between atoms is removed), perhaps we all are simply holograms. A place created to keep consciousness occupied…

50 To Watch
The “50 To Watch” book has arrived and it looks terrific. Two of my pieces are included! The actual show runs from April 5th through May 15th in two locations: 1. The Studio Door, 3750 30th Street and 2. City of Solana Beach, 635 South Highway 101.

30 Paintings in 30 Days: Day #31!
OMG – I made it! I actually finished 30 small artworks in 30 days! I had to lay them all out on the floor next to each other to get the full impact of the project. I am happy and relieved at the same time. I never before put myself into the situation to conceive, […]

Daily Painting #30: Breathe
A long time ago I read somewhere that deep breathing and being stressed can’t occur at the same time. Every time I do it – it works. But most of the time I forget to breathe deeply, and my shallow breathing makes stress worse. Today I will remind myself to breathe deeply and freely.

Daily Painting #29: Inter Dependent
Keeping the flow of giving and receiving open isn’t always easy. I have a tendency to want to know how to do everything, so I don’t have to ask for help. So, today I will focus on creating a healthy relationship, giving and being open to receive in equal measure.

Daily Painting #28: I Ask You Ask Me
No story telling today. No guesswork. If I am assuming why somebody did something – I am in trouble. Today I will simply ask.
